Xinyue Wei is a postdoctoral researcher in the lab. She earned her bachelor's degree at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and her master's degree at the University of Pennsylvania. She did her PhD at EPFL, where she began her career as an experimentalist studying fracture of soft brittle hydrogels. Her current research in the lab focuses on understanding the mechanical interactions between dense bacterial colonies and the surrounding confinement.

Outside the lab, Xinyue enjoys photography, hiking, and the combination of both. She also enjoys snowboarding, even though she is still on the beginner slopes after having practiced it for several snow seasons.
